Our February Employee Highlight
Q: What’s the coolest venue or event you’ve worked at Top Shelf Staffing, and why did you love it?
The Met Gala 2022. Beyond the glitz, the celebrities, and the breathtaking fashion, what truly stood out to me was the immense effort behind the scenes.
From catering teams to producers, lighting crews to protocol coordinators — every detail was meticulously planned and executed to perfection. What made the experience even more special was witnessing how approachable and warm many of the famous attendees were. Despite their larger-than-life personas, they reminded me that, at the core, they’re just people. The combination of professionalism, creativity, and human connection made it an unforgettable and truly inspiring event.
Q: What’s the funniest or most memorable customer interaction you’ve had on the job?
One of the most memorable interactions I’ve had on the job happened last summer. A guest recognized me from an event I had worked at the previous year. He approached me and said, "You look so familiar! Weren’t you at this party on this date?"
It was incredible—and funny—that even after a whole year, he still remembered me. Moments like that remind me how meaningful connections can be, even in fast-paced events.
Q: Which New York City neighborhood has the best vibe for working an event, and what makes it stand out?
One of the great things about this job is its flexibility and the chance to meet new people constantly. But with that, it can sometimes be hard to establish a routine. That’s why, for me, the best vibe for working an event comes from feeling a sense of belonging in the space.
I experienced that last year while working at Willetts. I was there from Monday to Thursday every week, and over time, we built a great work environment. Even the clients and guests began to recognize me. That familiarity created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made every shift enjoyable.
